The art retreat with Felicity was a great way to focus on my art and hang out with like-minded artists. I got so much out of this retreat, in particular the chance to connect and “talk shop” with other creatives who understand what I’m going through. Felicity does a great job in facilitating the retreat and creating a supportive and nurturing environment.
Felicity’s art retreat popped up at an important time of my career, where I had just started to tap into a direction I was excited about and was looking for a mentor to bounce ideas off with.
Felicity and the team provided a fully immersive few days where absolutely everything was carefully considered and catered for, from the business aspect, to helping me develop my own language to articulate my process.
I couldn’t recommended Felicity’s art retreat enough for artists at any stage of their career and chances are I’ll be back there again soon!
*You’ve got a lot of art to do but it’s hard to keep it as the priority
*You’re balancing jobs, family, pets and don’t have enough time to make a plan and feel focused on what to do next
*You’re ready for the next level in your career but don’t know where to find opportunities to exhibit and sell your work
After struggling with all of this and more myself for over 20 years, I’m here to help you because your art matters in the world !
Professional or semi professional, established and emerging artists (this is not suited to beginners looking for art classes).
Would love some supportive like-minded company to share your ideas with and get feedback.
Are looking to expand your network and opportunities in the art world.
Need some gentle, supportive and creative time out in a beautiful setting (with yummy food along the way!).
Have a specific project and deadline you need to get some work done for.
Would love to have a plan in place to reach your creative goals over the next 12 months..
Q. What is the accommodation like?
You will be sharing our beautiful relaxed home with us (one husband and me). It’s a very peaceful half acre with serene valley and lake views. You will have your own bedroom and a shared bathroom with one other retreat artist.
Q. What are the catering arrangements?
My super hubby Matt is an awesome cook (and gin expert!) and will be providing us with all meals except on Saturday night when we will be eating out together at a favorite beach side location in Avoca.
Q. What if I have specific dietary requirements?
We will be providing gluten free and vegetarian options and will do our best to meet your specific dietary requirements as best as we can. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any such requirements.
Q. Do I need to bring my own art materials?
Yes. You need to bring everything with you including containers for water, something to cover your clothes and hats for working out doors if you choose to and portable easels if you prefer to work that way. We will have trestle tables available for you and two larger easels on site. You are welcome to bring any mediums to work with that you would like to. If you are working in oil paints or other potentially toxic materials just bring odorless materials.
Q. What should I work on while on retreat?
It’s entirely up to you to choose what you would like to work on while on the retreat. You might like to bring some ongoing work to complete or you might like to start a new project you have in mind or you might like to just come and soak up the environment on the coast to spark some new ideas.
Q. What if I don’t have an up to date CV, website or active social media presence?
Well that’s just fine! As part of your retreat there is 1:1 time with me to sit down and map out some of the business end of your art profile to make sure all your hard work in the studio is being noticed out there by your potential buyers!
Q. How do I get to the accommodation?
Once you have paid in full, I will provide you with the address and how to find us. You can arrive by 2pm on the Thursday and be ready to check out by 10am on the Sunday.
Q. Will I have my own room?
Yes. Room size may vary, first in best dressed! We are very sensitive to the fact you may need some quite personal time and we provide a space for you to enjoy some down time to.
Q. What if I can’t make it?
Your 10% deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations made within 5 weeks of the start date will forfeit 100% of the total already paid. Please email email@example.com as soon as possible if you think you are not going to make it to the retreat. If you cancel more than 5 weeks before the retreat start date, you will be refunded all money paid minus the non-refundable deposit.
Q. Does the price cover travel to the Artist’s RETREAT?
No. You will be responsible for all travel costs to the retreat. However, if you are coming by train, we are happy to include a station pick up and drop off for you to Gosford station if you let us know in advance.
Q. Is there any chance it could be cancelled?
As with any event it is unlikely but possible cancellations could occur. If this was the case you will receive a full refund of any money paid. Airfares and any other costs are at your own risk and will not be refunded if the retreat is cancelled.
Q. What’s not included in this package?
All art materials, all travel cost (minus station shuttle to Gosford station if requested) all personal items.
I was the fortunate recipient of Felicity’s knowledge and experience but most of all her care and open heart and mind that has given me the confidence to go forward with my practice. The retreat was everything I imagined and more. Felicity and her husband Matt provided the safe harbor in which to nurture the growth of my artistic journey.
I came to Felicity’s artists retreat with a muddled head as to the direction my art should take. I had been producing seascapes and dabbled in still life and thought I had to choose between the two. Felicity’s sage advice that I can do both was a huge relief and has made me relax about my subject matter.
I also did not have the confidence to put myself ‘out there’ in the digital/social media world for fear of rejection and invading my privacy, Felicity gave me the tips on doing this without compromising my integrity or privacy.
The retreat gave me the unencumbered time to paint; to think about and feel my art practice as a journey to enjoy every step of the way. I could not recommend the retreat more highly to any artist whether a beginner, emerging or established – it’s a luxury to be able to step away from your everyday life and be given wise advice and space to clear your artistic mind.
Since the retreat I have received 2 commissions and 1 sale! I am thrilled!
I’ve just spent 3 day immersed in my art practice, surrounded by like minded people under the guidance of artist Felicity O’Connor: if this couldn’t get any better I spent my nights nestled into my own private cottage set amongst the picturesque bush land in Avoca a shortish drive north of Sydney. Over the 3 days we discussed where my art was and where I would like it to be, the things holding me back and what may propel me forward. I have walked away with a far better understanding of what I need to do to get to the next level. For me this has brought a deeper understanding to my work and a greater appreciation of the art community I am a part of. I would highly recommend spending time with Felicity at one of her retreats.
Felicity’s art retreat is place where you take yourself as a blank canvas and return with a painting which showcases a new perspective to the artist inside you and also your art and life.
She and her husband Matt make you feel so welcome to their serene humble abode.
That at the end of the retreat you just leave like feeling you were blessed to spend the 3 days with such humble and friendly souls.
During the retreat Felicity individually puts in her energy and time to help you to realign with your authentic truth and bring out the best in yourself that you can see when you finish making art pieces which are so true to you as an artist.
Matt on the other hand captures your art in such an intricate manner that you can showcase those lovely pictures on your social media and websites making your page look so professional and arty.
I personally would recommend all the aspiring artist who would like to get the best of themselves and their art forward to attend Felicity’s Art Retreat.
